Supplemental Educational Services (SES) means academic instruction that is offered outside the regular school day and designed to increase the academic achievement of low-income students in low-performing schools. These services may include academic assistance such as tutoring, remediation and other educational interventions, provided that such approaches are consistent with the content and instruction used by the district and are aligned with the State academic performance standards. Supplemental Educational Services must be high quality, research-based, and specifically designed to increase student academic achievement.

The main purpose of Supplemental Educational Services is to:
• Increase the academic achievement in reading/language arts or mathematics of eligible students as measured by the State’s assessment system; and
• Enable these children to attain proficiency in meeting State academic achievement standards in reading/language arts or mathematics.

*A child may quality for free tutoring if the child is eligible for free or reduced price lunch AND attends an eligible Title I school.  If parental requests for free tutoring exceed the amount of funding available, the School District will serve the students with the greatest need.  Neither the Florida Department of Education, Texas Department of Education nor the Local Educational Agency (LEA) /School District promotes or endorses any particular supplemental educational services (SES) provider.
